Having an Assistant Can Be a Real Lifesaver

An assistant can seem like a lifesaver because they can save you valuable time. Everyone is busy, their calendars and schedules are full of appointments, events and occasions.

We all get 24 hours in a day. It’s a challenge deciding which activities take priority over the others. You may sometimes wonder “how in the world will I get everything accomplished”? Continue reading

Thankful for no alarm clock days

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11/22/14

November 22, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for no alarm clock days 🙂 Weekdays, as well as some weekend days, usually start with an alarm clock going off at 5:45 am. Most of my days are pretty busy, with me dashing from one thing to another … but that is just life in the 24/7 world we live in.

Last night when we were driving home from our small group meeting, we realized that we didn’t have any commitments for today. When I realized tomorrow would be a rare no alarm clock day, I felt giddy and clapped my hands together (fyi … my hubby was driving).

Of course, I woke up at 7:30 this morning (nature calls), but technically it was still sleeping in for me (plus, I’m a morning person by nature). My hubby, who is a night owl, actually slept until 10. I don’t think the actual time matters so much as that waking up was a choice – a voluntary act on my part … I didn’t have to get out of bed if I didn’t want to 🙂

Christmas Busyness VS. the Reason for the Season

Christmas is upon us ! For the life of me, I don’t understand how time flies by so quickly. We all lead very busy lives. Sometimes I wonder why we over commit ourselves, after all, many times, we decide what goes on our schedule. I think in part, as a woman (and a perfectionist), I’m expected to do it all … a.k.a. SuperMom. The Holidays seem to add even more commitments to our already busy days.

I love lists, as you probably know, they help me stay organized. During the year, I have many various kinds of lists … personal, household and business to-do lists. Some lists are seasonal, gardening – camping – raking – and, of course, Christmas. My Holiday to-do list is always long.

I always want the Currier and Ives feeling for my home. You know, where the loving family is gathered around a beautifully decorated tree sitting in front of a warm, cozy fire in the hearth. The well-behaved children are eating warm from the oven cookies while listening to Dad read the Christmas story, patiently waiting to open the perfectly wrapped gifts under the tree. In my dreams …

It’s totally unrealistic, I know, but in my perfectionist mind, I disappoint myself by not getting it all done. Will the world end if I don’t bake 10 varieties of cookies or the gifts don’t have matching bows?? Of course not … I know I make my own busyness (I write the lists), but I truly want to be able to slow down and enjoy the Holidays. I need to learn how to simplify my preparations. I want to concentrate on what this holiday is all about … not all the commercialism and Santa Claus.

Jesus is the reason for the season. Christmas is about the gift of love, not things. It’s about spending time with family … and if you know of someone who doesn’t have family near, adopt them into your family 🙂 It’s about celebrating traditions and reminiscing with loved ones and friends. It’s about making new memories. It’s about being grateful for all you’ve been blessed with. It’s a time for blessing others. It’s about enjoying the simple things …

I want to wish you and yours a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11-20-13

November 20 ~ Today I am thankful for old friendships. Last night I got to spend some time reconnecting with someone I’ve been friends with since we were in grade school. We won’t go into how many decades we’ve been friends, but I will say that her friendship has always been a blessing to me 🙂

We had been trying to schedule a time to spend some time together, but were having a hard time choosing a date that worked for both of our busy schedules. After numerous texts, she mentioned she couldn’t meet me somewhere last night because she was going to be babysitting for her newborn grandson. I jumped right on that and invited myself over to her house to “help” … anything to get to hold and love on a little baby ♥

As always, it was like we were never apart. To me, that’s a sign of a true lifelong friendship. Even though we sometimes go 6 or more months without talking, we always seem fall into our own natural rhythm … just picking up the conversation wherever we left off last time 🙂
