November 5, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for my cell phone. However, I seem to have a love / hate relationship with it, but I am truly thankful to have one. Let me explain …
I love the convenience of being able to make or take a call while I’m away from home. I also love Caller ID … which helps me decide which calls to take (like from my clients or my kids) and which calls I can return later. Even though I’ve had a cell phone for more than 15 years, I do remember the days of having only a home phone. I remember coming home from a long day at work and finding numerous messages on the answering machine. It usually turned into a game of phone tag trying to get a hold of that person.
I sometimes hate that the cell phones, especially the smartphones, seem to almost take over its user. You know what I mean … the person seems more interested in what’s on their phone screen than what is happening in real life situations they are in. They seem more tuned in to their “virtual” friends than the live person they are with. Plus there doesn’t seem to be many etiquette type guidelines for cell phone usage … like I think that it’s kind of rude when someone on their cell phone is talking so loudly that the whole room hears their conversation.
Like I said … it’s a love / hate type of relationship 🙂
