November 20, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for laughter. They say that laughter is the best medicine. It not only improves your mood, but it gives you a sense of well-being. Let’s not forget the health benefits … your facial muscles get a good stretch, plus, a good belly laugh burns calories 🙂

Sometimes I’ll be quietly working in my home office and all of a sudden hear my hubby laugh out loud … not just a giggle, but a full blown belly laugh … while he’s watching TV in another room. It warms my heart knowing he is happy and content ♥

November 19, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for nature’s beauty. I feel blessed to be able to experience the beauty of a glorious sunset, or to see the sunshine glistening on water. I am amazed when I see the mirrored images of the tree line reflected in the lake.

Each season has its own beauty. The colorful leaves of autumn range from greens & yellows to rusts & reds. Each snowflake has it”s own unique crystal formation. It’s so exciting to see the first green shoots of a crocus online casino breaking through the snow to let us know that spring is on the way. Spring brings stormy weather with magnificent cloud formations, strikes of lightning and colorful rainbows. Summer brings flowers of every hue with innumerable textures and scents.

Mountains ~ prairies ~ forests ~ beaches ~ God has truly blessed us with his beautiful creation.

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11/18/14

November 18, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful to be able to “Google It”. In today’s world, we are blessed with access to information with a few strokes on a keyboard. It is mind boggling to think about. You just type a word, phrase or question into the address bar, press enter … and voila, you are given thousands of answers to choose from. You don’t even have to know how to spell it correctly … Google will ask you if you meant something else if it doesn’t recognize your query.

Back in the day, when I was in school, we had to use the library’s card catalog to research various topics. It led us to find actual books on the subject, which we had to read to find the facts we were looking for. A lot of the work had to be done in the library because the books in the “Reference Section” could not be checked out. There were a lot of handwritten notes to refer back to when actually writing the paper. Printing a hard copy wasn’t an option.

I love the convenience of using Google Search Engines. This is one area of modern technology that I am really quite happy with.

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11/17/14

November 17, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for Netflix. I know Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming companies have been around for a long time, but I’ve only started watching TV shows on them in the last year or so.

It started with LOST … I didn’t really know much about the show until the end of the first season on “live” TV. Several friends were talking about how they couldn’t wait until the next season came on. You should probably know that I’m kind of a stickler for reading or watching a series in order. I want to know what went on previously. So I thought I missed the boat on seeing this show.

Queue Netflix and Hulu+ … my husband & I discovered you can start at season 1 and keep going … aka, binge watching. It’s one of our new favorite pastimes. I love having no, or minimal, commercials and not having to wait a week to watch the next episode.

LOST, Law & Order, Revolution, Downton Abbey and others got us through a long, cold Chicago winter last year. This year we have started 3rd Rock from the Sun and Blue Bloods 🙂

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11/16/14

November 16, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for pumpkin … everything 🙂 Autumn is my favorite season for lots of reasons … the warm sunny days followed by crisp cool evenings, the spectacular colors of the changing leaves, and of course, pumpkin flavored treats. From Labor Day til Thanksgiving, its pumpkin season … and I’m very thankful!

Pumpkin Spice Latte may be my favorite. This year I found a recipe on Pinterest and made it at home ~ I actually liked it better than you know where. Saving money was nice too! I love pumpkin bread warm from the oven and pumpkin cheesecake with whipped cream. Last night, I had pumpkin ice cream drizzled with warm caramel and pecans … yum … and I’m looking forward to a big slice of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving 🙂

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11/15/14

November 15, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for ornaments. Well, not only the ornaments (but I do love ornaments), but also the wonderful memories they represent.

I own lots (& I mean lots) of ornaments, many of them belonged to my grandmother. I made many of them throughout the years. Others represent life events … Our First Christmas Together … Baby’s 1st Christmas, and the like.

Each year when I’m decorating our tree, I get to relive all those memories with each ornament I unwrap … so nostalgic.

Today, I went to Bronner’s … the world’s largest CHRISTmas store 🙂 Oh my … it was heavenly! I’ve never seen so many ornaments. Okay, I confess that I may have bought one or two …

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11/14/14

November 14, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for hot tubs 🙂 Last night, I was blessed to be able to enjoy a glass of wine and soak in a hot tub. It felt so wonderful to just sit back and relax for a while. The warm, soothing water jets did wonders for my back pain, especially after a long car ride.

Tomorrow, I’ll be out walking around all day … I’m already looking forward to another soak tomorrow night 🙂

November 13, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for modern grocery stores. It truly is a blessing to be able to just “run to the store” when you are out of something. I think many people take them for granted, I know I do. If you live near a city or its suburbs, the grocery store is more of mega center. You can get practically anything you can imagine. They usually have aisle upon aisle of specialty foods and most ethnic ingredients you might need.

Many of the national chain type grocery stores are actually superstores. These stores combine department store items with food items under the same roof. Some of these stores even have a car maintenance department on site so you can get your oil changed while you are shopping. Some of these mega stores rent space to other businesses like hair & nail salons, eye doctors or bank branches. All very convenient for one stop shopping, which can save time 🙂

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11/12/14

November 12, 2014 ~ Today I am thankful for fun road trips. I never used to like road trips … when I was growing up, it was all about getting from point A to point B in the shortest amount of time that is humanly possible. Potty stops between fill-ups were frowned upon. We were encouraged to “go” when we stopped for gas … even if we didn’t feel the “urge”; we should still try to “go”.

Nowadays, I really enjoy road trips with my hubby. He is so easy going. I have a bad back … sitting or standing in the same position for a long time make my back sore and stiff. My wonderful hubby will pull over as often as I need to stretch. He would stop at every exit if I asked him to <3

Plus … we always go shopping for road trip food (aka – junk food) before getting on the road. Yummy snacks – singing along to the radio – enjoying the scenery, now that’s a fun road trip … besides getting there is half the fun 🙂

Tracy Helps You’s Thankful Thoughts for Today ~ 11/11/14

November 11, 2014 ~ Today, like most Americans, I am thankful for our veterans. I am thankful for each man and women who put their life on hold to put on a uniform to serve their country. I am thankful for those who fought to win our freedom, and thankful for those who fight to keep it.

After 9/11, I think we have all learned that life as we know it can be forever changed in the blink of an eye. I am eternally grateful to the men and women in the military ~ those who have served and those currently serving. Thank you for protecting my freedom … thank you for being willing to lay down your life, so that I may go to sleep each night knowing you are protecting my right to live in “the land of the free and the home of the brave”. I am truly blessed.
